TomoTherapy Inc. Recognized for Helping Fuel Wisconsin’s Economy
TomoTherapy Inc. has been selected to receive the “Corporation of the Year” award for economic development by the Wisconsin Economic Development Association (WEDA). The award is distributed biennually and is based on a number of criteria, including employee growth, financial success, innovation, and community involvement.
“TomoTherapy Inc. has had tremendous support from the statewide community, including the University of Wisconsin, WARF, the City of Madison, the State Department of Commerce, and local business partners and investors,” said Dr. Fred Robertson, TomoTherapy Inc.’s Chief Executive Officer. “TomoTherapy is honored to receive this award.”
The company was nominated by Michael Gay, a member of WEDA and a Certified Economic Developer for the City of Madison, who has worked with TomoTherapy Inc. on a number of expansion projects over the past year and a half. “This is an exemplary company that has had a very positive impact in the region from just about every aspect,” says Gay. “They’ve doubled their employee base every year for the past eight years with jobs that pay very decent, family-supporting wages. TomoTherapy Inc. puts Madison on the international map for high-tech biomedical industry.”
James Otterstein, WEDA President, notes, “With economic development activities picking up around the state, there were a lot of nominations for a variety of excellent programs. Each provided a different combination of benefits to the economic vitality of the State of Wisconsin. TomoTherapy Inc. was a clear winner.”
The award was presented by Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton at the Governor’s Conference on Economic Development at the Monona Terrace Convention and Community Center in Madison on February 8, 2007.
