TomoTherapy Incorporated Receives Distinguished MIT Club Award for 2006 Technology Achievement

TomoTherapy Incorporated is honored to receive an award for technological leadership in the state of Wisconsin at an awards banquet hosted by the MIT Club of Wisconsin. Dr. Abbas Ourmazd, Vice Chancellor for Research and Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, will deliver the keynote address entitled, “Turning Knowledge into Dollars.”

TomoTherapy Incorporated, winner for the Small Business Category, was chosen because of the company’s great potential for future growth as well as the breakthrough technology of its product, the TomoTherapy Hi·Art System®. Allyn Ziegenhagen, Treasurer, Membership Chair, and the VP of Programs for the MIT Club of Wisconsin, nominated TomoTherapy. “TomoTherapy was an easy choice,” Ziegenhagen said. “After going over the TomoTherapy case study, one board member simply shouted, ‘That’s it!’ The rapid growth and impact that the company is having on cancer treatment worldwide really drew our attention.”

TomoTherapy’s explosive growth has led the company to begin building an additional manufacturing facility as well as a new European office to keep up with the demand for its revolutionary cancer treatment system, which delivers radiation with pinpoint accuracy.

Paul J. Reckwerdt“It’s always a great honor when TomoTherapy is recognized for the dedication and work that our employees have put into this company for the past eight years,” said Paul Reckwerdt, co-founder. “We literally started with a handful of individuals who saw the potential of this product. Now our company has grown to about 335 employees and is recognized as a worldwide manufacturer of an innovative radiation treatment system for cancer patients. We believe this is only the beginning for TomoTherapy.”

Thomas Thomas “Rock” Mackie, PhD, the company’s other co-founder, emphasized that “TomoTherapy has had tremendous support from the community including the University of Wisconsin, WARF, the State Department of Commerce, and local business partners and investors. TomoTherapy would like to thank the MIT Club of Wisconsin for their thoughtful award.”

TomoTherapy joins a prestigious list of past and present winners, including Johnson Controls, GE Medical Systems, and Rockwell Automation.
