Integration

The TomoTherapy® Hi·Art® treatment system was built for simplicity and ease of use. Smart design and a single, common database drive a completely integrated process for delivering state-of-the-art radiation treatments.

Combining image-guided and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IG/IMRT), the Hi·Art treatment system brings greater precision, accuracy and assurance to cancer care. It also improves daily workflow for centers of all sizes.

With Hi·Art, there is no need for costly options, third-party add-ons or a separate treatment planning system. Everything you rely on for the best possible cancer care is included, and a centralized database drives it all:

  • the Hi·Art SystemOptimized treatment planning
  • Delivery quality assurance
  • CTrue™ imaging technology
  • Helical IMRT delivery
  • Record and verify
  • Adaptive planning

Incredibly powerful, but with an easy-to-learn user interface, the Hi·Art Treatment Planning Station lets you efficiently create sophisticated IMRT plans for both simple and complex cases. In fact, all plans become simple with the TomoTherapy approach. You prescribe the treatment and optimize the plan based on diagnostic CT and anatomical structure data that includes the dosimetric goals and constraints you have specified. Three intuitive tabs guide the process.

Following definition of prescription and constraints, the 32-CPU Optimization Cluster optimizes the weight of the tens of thousands of beamlets used in a typical TomoTherapy radiation treatment fraction. (Each beamlet weight corresponds to the “opening time” of a single leaf in the MLC at a given stage of delivery.) Three-dimensional dose distributions and dose-volume histograms (DVHs) are available as analysis tools to either accept or modify—and re-optimize—the planned dose.

Patient Positioning

Delivery Quality Assurance (DQA) is fully integrated into the planning software, allowing seamless calculation of the dose with the patient’s plan applied to a phantom. The DQA plan can then be selected and delivered from the Operator Station, and compared with point dose and planar film dose measurements. This lets you know that your prescription will be carried out according to plan.

Located just outside the treatment room, the Hi·Art Operator Station has everything you need to operate your system in one computer. It is used to perform CTrue imaging, image registration and the treatment delivery after your patient has been positioned. The Operator Station is also used to create and perform machine quality assurance procedures.

For record & verify needs, both the Planning and Operator Stations allow printed records of treatment details, as well as treatment data archiving on DVD.
