The Beamlet

After months of preparation, the ASTRO Annual Meeting seemed to come and go in a flash. Here's a look back at the highlights.

Event Recap

On the eve of ASTRO, TomoTherapy hosted two different events. First up was A Meeting of the Minds, the TomoTherapy® Hi·Art® System Users Meeting, where nearly 200 clinicians from TomoTherapy treatment centers from around the world joined us to discuss their latest accomplishments with CT-guided, full-field helical IMRT.

The second event, co-presented with City of Hope, Duarte, CA, was Driving Change, the Annual Reception at ASTRO. For this event, which took place at the Petersen Automotive Museum, we welcomed almost 600 guests for a celebration of the view from the driver's seat of a radiotherapy revolution.

Prior to this year's annual meeting, we announced a number of new strategic alliances, each forged to enhance the efficiency and capabilities of the TomoTherapy Hi·Art treatment system in a clinical setting.

We were proud to welcome these partners into our booth:

  • IBA Dosimetry showcased the Helical Dosimetry® suite of quality assurance products for the TomoTherapy Hi·Art treatment system.
  • Integra Radionics' new InterFix radiosurgery kit was demonstrated, along with the High Performance Couch.
  • Medical Intelligence, an Elekta company, joined us to present a works-in-progress prototype of a head frame fixation and repositioning device, the first product to be developed through a newly-announced partnership.
  • PTW was on hand, presenting its own suite of patient-specific and machine-based quality assurance products.
  • And, a software product currently in development with RaySearch Laboratories was also shown. The product is being developed to facilitate the transfer of patient treatment plans between TomoTherapy Hi·Art treatment systems and conventional linear accelerators.
