The Beamlet

July was a month of milestones for TomoTherapy Inc. and our partners around the world. Here’s a look back at the highlights.

On Tuesday, July 18th, our new Operations Center was officially unveiled during an open house event. The 66,000 square-foot building is now home to our Customer Contact Center and Manufacturing Facility. It offers four times the production capacity and test volumes our former space allowed, and room for further expansion in assembly, test and support areas.

On hand for the open house event were the TomoTherapy Inc. Board of Directors and local government officials, as well as esteemed guests Dr. Minesh Mehta, Chair of Human Oncology at the University of Wisconsin Medical School, and Chuck Mueller, a prostate cancer patient recently treated on the TomoTherapy® Hi·Art System® at the University of Wisconsin Comprehensive Cancer Center.

On Wednesday, July 26th, the first TomoTherapy radiation treatments were performed in Germany, at the University Clinic Heidelberg. As with all new treatment center partners worldwide, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Clinic and look forward to working with Prof. Dr. Jürgen Debus*, Dr. Gabriele Sroka-Perez* and their staff for years to come.  More

Finally, on the evening of Monday, July 31st, TomoTherapy Inc. welcomed approximately 230 guests for A Celebration of Simplicity at the AAPM Annual Meeting. The party provided an opportunity for all to raise a glass to radiation therapy made easier by the Hi·Art System.

The turnout for the event exceeded all expectations, as did the number of booth visitors throughout the week. For more on AAPM 2006, please see ‘By the Bullets’ at right.
